Unbelievable Diving on Table Rock Lake
The diving this past Saturday on Table Rock Lake was almost unbelievable for this time of the year. Generally in August and September the visibility is horrible due to the algae and lake traffic. Saturday was an unusual treat for our divers. These photos were taken at Spoonbill Bluff and on Poverty Point. The kids and adults alike enjoyed feeding the piranhas, um I mean bluegill fish. Congratulations to Dax and Tiki on their Junior OpenWater Diver certification

Table Rock Lake Tragedy July 18, 2018
July 19th was a sad day in the Ozarks when 17 tourists lost their lives aboard the amphibious "Ride the Ducks" attraction on Table Rock Lake. My heart is full of grief at this loss. Each weekend our dive boat passes the ducks and their fabled Duck Island on the way to our dive spots. Our interactions with the passengers and drivers were always fun. Clapping and cheering could be heard from both boats! Recently, the news is full of coverage about this tragedy with many casting blame and ridicule even before the waves were calm. I grieve for those lost and pray for those that remain.

Wow, what a weekend. After suffering from mid to upper ninety degree temperatures all week, Saturday & Sunday, June 23rd & 24th were a blessing. I headed out to Poverty Point on Table rock lake with a couple of good friends and had an awesome dive. Poverty point is marked off by lines which begin about 35 feet on a sunken Higgins boat. These lines lead to the cliff to depths of 70-75 feet. The lines mark a couple of statues, a full skeleton on a tree at about 55 feet and a skull at 70 feet. For the more advanced diver, the lines mark a couple of dead-end caves (over-hangs) on the lake. All-in-all this was an awesome dive. I will be adding it to my "bag of trips" available for other divers to join me and the State Park Dive Shop customers. They run a boat with a dive Guide/master daily at 9 am, 12 pm, and 3 pm. Come make bubbles with me!

The treasure Hunt at the Mine at Bonne Terre was exceptional this year with fantastic prizes like a Mares regulator and a trip aboard Blackbeard in the Bahamas. One of my diving friends, Frank, won the live-a-board trip abroad Blackbeard's. I, myself made off with a Mares ball cap, PADI towel, and a year's subscription to Wreck Diving magazine. All-in-all about 70 divers were present and all had a terrific time. Thank you Bonne Terre Mine, Pup Morris, Dive Right In Scuba, and the local Masons!

One of the most fun dives that I participate in each year is the treasure dive at the Mine at Bonne Terre. Not only is the mine at Bonne Terre one of the most unique and interesting dives to do in the midwest, the treasure dive gives you an introduction to cavern diving on the precipice of diving to collect poker chips that can be used to bid with during an auction for prizes that includes awesome dive trips and equipment.......I highly recommend this dive for everyone!
